MIAMI – A luxury goods maker claims an online retailer is selling counterfeit versions of its products.
Chanel Inc. filed a complaint on Dec. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the individual, partnership, or unincorporated association doing business as fakebags.ru alleging trademark infringement and other counts.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business and reputation. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible because the defendant allegedly sells counterfeit products.
The plaintiff seeks to enjoin the defendant from further infringing plaintiff's trademark, disable the URL being used by the defendant, pay the plaintiff all profits and damages, statutory damages in the amount of $2 million per each counterfeit trademark, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
