WEST PALM BEACH — An former employee is suing a Palm Beach County business, alleging unpaid wages and violation of workers compensation acts.

Jennifer Myers filed a lawsuit Dec. 1 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Palm Beach Division against Gratitude House Inc., alleging the employer failed to pay fair wages.

According to the complaint, Myers, a graduate student at Nova University, worked as a marriage and family therapist intern without being paid proper wages. The suit says she became a licensed family and marriage therapist March 7.

The lawsuit states Gratitude House hired a male therapist in 2014 and paid him more than Myers even though both did the same work. The suit says Myers resigned March 31.

Myers seeks trial by jury, liquidated double damages, all legal fees and any other relief the court deems just. She is represented by attorney Christopher J. Rush of Christopher J. Rush & Associates PA in Boynton Beach.
