MIAMI — Chanel is suing business competitors, alleging unfair competition.

Chanel Inc. filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against The Individuals, Partnerships and Unincorporated Associations,   alleging the defendants sell counterfeit goods that bear the Chanel trademark.

According to the complaint, Chanel suffered monetary damages to its business and reputation. because the defendants used retail and online stores to distribute the counterfeit goods with the Chanel trademark.

Chanel seeks to enjoin the defendant from further infringing the plaintiff's trademark, all profits and damages derived from the unlawful act, statutory damages of $2 million per each counterfeit trademark used, all legal fees and interest, plus all other relief the court deems just. They are represented by attorneys Stephen M. Gaffigan, Virgilio Gigante, and T. Raquel Rodriguez-Albizu of Stephen M. Gaffigan PA in Fort Lauderdale.
