OCALA, Florida — A former communications specialist for Sumter Electric Cooperative Inc. is suing the co-op for allegedly violating wage law.

Carter Maysilles filed a complaint on Nov. 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Sumter Electric Cooperative Inc., alleging that the employer failed to pay her fair wages.

The plaintiff holds Sumter Electric Cooperative Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premium for working more than 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid wages, liquidated damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Louis Montone and Nathan A. McCoy of Wilson McCoy, P.A. in Maitland.
