ORLANDO — A woman is suing Life Insurance Company of America, citing alleged breach of contract regarding disability benefits.

Shannon Carter filed a complaint on Nov. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Orlando Division against Life Insurance Company of America, alleging that the insurance firm wrongly terminated her disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, she became disabled and was initially being paid benefits until they were terminated. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Company of America responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated the plaintiff's disability benefits despite her continuing disability under the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks a declaration that she is entitled to long-term disability benefits, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Erik Berger of Law Office of Erik W. Berger in Jacksonville.
