Mother alleges child was injured on metal strip in Carnival ship's cabin

Cruise 06

MIAMI – A Georgia mother alleges her child was injured because of a metal strip on the floor of their cabin on a cruise ship.

Keyra Johnson, individually and as mother and next friend of Leah Johnson, filed a complaint on Nov. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 23, 2015, Leah Johnson sustained physical injuries and permanent scarring when she tripped and fell onto a metal strip while on the defendant's ship. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly warn its passengers regarding the hazardous condition aboard its vessel.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Joel M. Barnett of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
