Man files suit against Liberty Life Assurance Co. over disability benefit claim

Insurance 02

FORT LAUDERDALE – A Florida man alleges his claim for disability benefits was wrongfully denied.

George Hoxie filed a complaint on Nov. 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division against Liberty Life Assurance Co. of Boston citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he became disabled and applied for long-term disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Liberty Life Assurance Co. of Boston responsible because the defendant allegedly denied plaintiff's several appeals despite being him disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant plus any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Edward Philip Dabdoub and Carter Meader of Wagar Dabdoub PA in Coral Gables.
