MIAMI — A consumer is suing Residential Credit Solutions Inc., a debt collector, citing alleged violation of telephone harassment statutes.

William I. Travis filed a complaint on Oct. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Residential Credit Solutions Inc., claiming that the debt collector improperly called the plaintiff's cellular telephone in an attempt to collect an alleged debt.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he suffered damages from receiving several collection calls. The plaintiff holds Residential Credit Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact the plaintiff.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages of $1,500 for each and every violation, all legal fees and any other relief this court deems just. He is represented by George N. Andrews of Loan Lawyers LLC in Fort Lauderdale.
