Smith, Kling & Thompson, P.A. accused of not paying proper overtime

TAMPA — A man is suing Smith, Kling & Thompson, P.A., f/k/a Thompson Trial Group, P.A., claiming the law firm violated wage laws.

Julian Ruiz filed a complaint on Oct. 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against the defendant, alleging that the law firm failed to fairly compensate him for his work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds the defendant responsible for allegedly violating the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all overtime hours, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief this court deems just. He is represented by Damien A. D' Ascenzio of Booth & Cook, P.A. in Port Richey.
