MIAMI – Berger Singerman, which touts itself as Florida’s business law firm, has announced that it has expanded its land use, regulatory and commercial law practices with the addition of partner Jeff Bartel.

With around three decades of experience in business, law and government issues, Bartel is considered a highly respected business, legal, and community leader in South Florida. Regarded for his civic and philanthropic leadership, his presence will add greatly to the team at Berger Singerman, which currently has more than 80 attorneys working out of offices in Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, and Tallahassee.

Upon the announcement of his partnership with Berger Singerman, Bartel said in a statement that he was excited to be joining the company that has an outstanding team with a vast amount of legal talent.

“Berger Singerman’s culture and its focus on a collaborative, value-driven approach to client service are compelling,” Bartel said. “In addition, corporate citizenship is critically important to me, and Berger Singerman has a long and distinguished record of being a great corporate citizen, and is dedicated at its core to giving back to the communities it serves.”

Paul Singerman, co-chair of Berger Singerman, told the Florida Record that throughout Bartel’s career, he has served as a trusted adviser and partner to many corporations, successful entrepreneurs, public and private-sector leaders and government officials, in addition to local, state, and national business organizations.

“He is not only an outstanding addition to our government, regulatory and land use practices but, given his breadth and depth of business and legal experience and expertise, he is a tremendous asset to our corporate, finance, and tax practice areas as well,” said Singerman.

With a large client base including businesses in Florida and California, Bartel joins Berger Singerman as a partner to assist clients on land use and zoning, real estate development and finance, governmental and regulatory affairs, corporate governance and compliance, energy and utility, and private equity and venture capital matters.

According to Singerman, Bartel fits well into Berger Singerman’s collaborative, value-driven culture.

“Here at the firm, he will be able to share his tremendous business, legal and governmental acumen, knowledge, and experience with his colleagues, while also leveraging the expertise of other practice areas to best serve the firm’s clients," Singerman said. "His background, experience, impeccable reputation and substantive high-level relationships will enhance and strengthen Berger Singerman as Florida’s business law firm."

Bartel earned his bachelor of arts debree, cum laude in government, from Harvard University, and his juris doctor, with honors, from the University of Florida.

In addition, he is also a graduate of Harvard Business School’s advanced management program for senior executives, and the Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation.
