Law money 13

MIAMI – A former security guard alleges that a Miami-Dade County employer failed to pay her a fair compensation for her work.

Dixie Torres filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Doral Gardens Condominium Association Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours from 2015 to January without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Doral Gardens Condominium Association Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half to plaintiff for working more than 40 hours per week. She alleges she worked for more than 400 hours of overtime for which she is owed.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid wages and overtime wages, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Andres Rivera-Ortiz of Law Offices of Andres Rivera-Ortiz PA in Miami.
