JACKSONVILLE – A Jacksonville man has filed a class-action against a debt collector over claims its communication with him were misleading.

Michael Coffman filed a complaint on behalf of himself and all others similarly situated on Oct. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against TrueAccord Corp. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he received an initial written communication via email from the defendant to collect an alleged debt that did not state any dispute of the debt or a request for the name and address of the creditor must be made in writing in violation of the FDCPA.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek relief and judgment, damages, attorneys' fees, costs of action, interest and other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Alex D. Weisberg of Weisberg Consumer Law Group PA in Cooper City.
