Former employee claims Blue Rock Partners LLC violated wage laws

TAMPA – A Hillsborough County man alleges his former Tampa property management employer did not pay overtime.

Carlos Cruz filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Blue Rock Partners LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that employed with the defendant from 2010 to July as a non-exempt employee and worked in excess of 40 hours a week. He alleges he was not compensated for overtime hours at one-and-one-half times his regular pay, which caused him to suffer from monetary damages.

The plaintiff holds Blue Rock Partners LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to compensate plaintiff for his overtime hours worked and failed to honor its obligation to pay overtime premiums to employees covered by the FLSA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for an amount equal to unpaid back wages, damages, interest, declaratory judgment, costs, attorney's fees and further relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Luis A. Cabassa of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa PA in Tampa.
