MIAMI — An individual has filed suit against an insurance company after allegedly being wrongfully denied short-term and long-term disability payments.

William Harrison filed a complaint Sept. 6 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Standard Insurance Co., alleging that the insurance firm denied the plaintiff's claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in March 2015, he became disabled and applied for disability benefits under the plan, but was denied. The plaintiff holds Standard Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks payment of the disability benefits due to him, reinstatement and continuance of payment for as long as he remains disabled, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Alexander A. Palamara and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer Chartered in Hollywood.
