Aetna Life Insurance accused of wrongfully denying disability benefits

Insurance 05

TAMPA – A woman has filed a suit against her insurer over allegations it wrongfully denied her insurance benefits.

Vickie Brown filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Aetna Life Insurance Co. citing the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay plaintiff any disability benefits despite being disabled according to the terms of the plan.

The plaintiff seeks reinstatement plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
