MIAMI — A former beauty consultant has filed a class-action lawsuit against a lash boutique for alleged unpaid wages.

Ashley Williams filed a complaint on behalf of herself and other similarly situated individuals on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Iy Khandii LLC, doing business as Iy Kandii Lash Boutique, and Khadijah I. Chappell, alleging that they failed to fairly compensate the plaintiff for all hours worked.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July, she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Iy Khandii LLC and Khadijah I. Chappell responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff the regular rate of pay and any overtime premium for hours worked that exceeded 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, unpaid wages plus interest, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Anthony M. Georges-Pierre of Remer & Georges-Pierre PLLC in Miami.
