Man claims Navient Solutions harassed him in an attempt to collect alleged debt

JACKSONVILLE – A debt collector is accused of intentionally harassing a Duval County man in an attempt to collect on an alleged student loan debt.

Levard Hopkins filed a complaint on Aug. 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Navient Solutions Inc. citing the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff claims that in 2016, the defendant has called him multiple times a day in an attempt to collect an alleged student loan. The plaintiff holds Navient Solutions Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact plaintiff and continued to call despite his requests to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, permanent injunction against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Christopher Legg of Buchwald Legg PLLC in Hollywood.
