MIAMI – A North Carolina woman claims she fractured a bone in her leg after a fall in a parking garage.

Laurinda Lee Francis filed a complaint on Aug. 30 in the Florida District Court for Miami-Dade County against city of Miami Inc./Miami International Airport citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in October 2013, she fell while stepping off the curb in the Flamingo Parking Garage at the airport, causing a fracture to the neck of her left femur. She alleges she needed three weeks of recovery and rehabilitation because of the medical treatment needed for the injury. The plaintiff holds city of Miami Inc./Miami International Airport responsible because the defendants alleged failure in making proper changes in elevation in the garage and that the building was not up to code.

The plaintiff seeks damages in the amount of $650,000. She is representing herself.
