Medicredit Inc. accused of using autodialer for placing collection calls

Phone 03

GAINESVILLE – A Gadsden County woman alleges a debt collector continued to call her after requesting the calls to stop.

Vivian Howard filed a complaint on Aug. 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida against Medicredit Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant contacted her several times a day on her cellular telephone in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Medicredit Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact plaintiff and continued to call after she requested the calls to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, permanent injunction against the defendant from placing calls to her phone, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Christopher Legg of Buchwald Legg PLLC in Hollywood.
