Curry's Roofing LLC accused of not paying proper wages

Law money 03

OCALA – A former employee alleges a Citrus County business did not pay him for working 10 to 20 hours of overtime each week.

Kemeyon Knight filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against Curry's Roofing LLC alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime wages or minimum wages at the legal rate. The suit states the plaintiff worked for the defendant from December 2013 to April. The plaintiff holds Curry's Roofing LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay plaintiff any overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half for hours worked that exceeded 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid minimum wages, unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, all legal fees and interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Matthew R. Gunter of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
