Man claims mopped floor on cruise ship caused injuries

Slip02

MIAMI – A cruise ship passenger has filed a suit claiming he was injured when he slipped and fell on a floor that was wet from mopping.

Kelvin Worthy filed a complaint on Aug. 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines Inc., alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Sept. 7, 2015, he sustained physical injuries while traveling on the Carnival Fascination. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to place warning signs on the newly mopped floor or close the area to passengers until the floor was dry.

The plaintiff seeks judgment against the defendant for damages, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. He is represented by Paul M. Hoffman of Hoffman Law Firm in Fort Lauderdale.
