Carnival Corp. accused of negligence after child injured on cruise

Cruise 07

MIAMI – Parents have filed suit against a Miami-based cruise line alleging their child was injured while on a cruise.

Christina MacDonald, individually and as mother and next friend of Michael MacDonald, a minor; and Shawn MacDonald filed a complaint on Aug. 4, in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Aug. 8, 2015, Michael MacDonald sustained injuries when he slipped and fell while aboard the defendant's cruise ship Breeze's Sky Course. The plaintiffs hold Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to provide adequate warning and supervision for minors using the Sky Course aboard its vessel.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jennifer C. Thompson of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
