Man files suit alleging debt collector continued to call despite requests to stop

ORLANDO – An Orange County man is accusing a debt collector of placing robocalls to his cellphone.

Anthony Blair filed a complaint on Aug. 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Santander Consumer USA Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that beginning in August 2015, he was contacted on his cellular phone by the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Santander Consumer USA Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted plaintiff though his cellular telephone using an automatic dialing system despite plaintiff's request to stop calling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jared M. Lee of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Orlando.
