Technician alleges she was retaliated against for asserting FMLA rights

CLEARWATER – A pharmacy technician alleges she was terminated after requesting to leave work early during to a medical condition.

Angee Crayton filed a complaint on Aug. 4 in the 6th Judicial Circuit Court - Pinellas County against Walgreen Co. alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in June 2015, she was hospitalized for a serious medical condition and received a write up upon her return to work as a senior certified pharmacy technician. She alleges she submitted paperwork for short-term disability leave and was informed that she could be demoted to a lower-paying position if she took time off. The plaintiff holds Walgreen Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly terminated plaintiff's employment in December 2015 a few days after she requested to leave 90 minutes early due to her health condition.

The plaintiff seeks all legal and equitable relief, interest, reinstatement, all legal fees and any other relief as this court deems just. She is represented by Wolfgang M. Florin, Christopher D. Gray, Robin M. Orosz and Lindsey C. Kofoed of Florin, Roebig PA in Palm Harbor.
