Former Walgreen's employee alleges she is owed overtime wages

Law money 13

TAMPA – A former assistant store manager for a pharmacy retail chain alleges she routinely performed off-the-clock work and is owed overtime wages.

Debra York filed a complaint on Aug. 4 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Walgreen Co. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime wages from 2012 until March. The plaintiff holds Walgreen Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half on all hours worked by plaintiff that exceeded 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Angela Murthy of Morgan & Morgan PA in Plantation.
