JACKSONVILLE – A Lake City woman alleges she was misclassified by her Jacksonville employer and was not paid overtime wages and has filed a class-action complaint.

Gail Lockwood filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against CIS Services LLC, doing business as CIS Alamo Services, CIS Claim Services LLC, doing business as Alamo Claim Service, CIS Group of Cos. LLC, et al. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime premiums. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly misclassified their employees as independent contractors for a period in order to avoid paying overtime wages to them.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks pay overtime wages due to plaintiff, interest and liquidated damages, order the defendant to pay payments of all federal withholding and taxes, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Amber L. Karns, Michael A. Starzyk and Megan M. Mitchell of Starzyk & Associates PC in The Woodlands, Texas.
