GAINESVILLE – A suit regarding a patent for voting machines has been filed by a Florida business.

Voter Verified Inc. filed a complaint on July 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida, Gainesville Division against Election Systems & Software LLC, formerly known as Election Systems & Software Inc., alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patented technology being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Election Systems & Software LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly distributes voting systems that infringes plaintiff's '449 patent and as a result, induces end users who use the voting system into direct infringement.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages, treble damages, permanent injunctive relief against the defendant, interest on damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Anthony I. Provitola of Anthony I. Provitola PA in DeLand.
