Florida company sues Spice Jungle over shipping notice system

Patents 08

MIAMI — A Florida corporation is suing Spice Jungle over alleged copying of patented technology for its shipping notices.

Shipping and Transit LLC filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Spice Jungle LLC, doing business as Beanvilla.com, alleging that the Michigan-based corporation used the plaintiff's patented technology for its own shipping notices.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Shipping and Transit LLC suffered damages as the result of their patented application being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Spice Jungle responsible because the defendant allegedly uses the advance shipment notice system, which infringes one or more claims of the plaintiff's patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to award the plaintiff of any damages adequate to compensate them plus interest, increased damages, a permanent injunction, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems appropriate. The plaintiff is represented by Jason P. Dollard of Leslie Robert Evans & Associates in Palm Beach.
