Howard Law Group accused of misleading debt collection practices

Late 01

MIAMI – A Miami-Dade man claims that a debt collector sent a letter that violated laws and regulations in an attempt to collect the alleged debt.

Mario Ledon filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Harris Howard PA, doing business as Howard Law Group, alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant allegedly used deceptive and misleading practices in an attempt to collect an alleged mortgage debt from him. The plaintiff holds Harris Howard PA responsible because the defendant allegedly did not include in a February letter to him that identified the full amount of the debt, what to do if the debt is disputed, created a false urgency that money must be paid within 30 days and other issues, which violates the FDCPA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Scott D. Owens of Scott D. Owens PA in Hollywood.
