Class action filed against Boca Inn over allegations of unpaid overtime

Law money 09

MIAMI – A desk clerk for a hotel has filed a class-action suit against her former employer alleging she and other employees were not paid overtime.

Ann Singh filed a complaint on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Anu Inc., doing business as Boca Inn; Ramjit Singh; Tarsem Kaur Singh; and Baljit Singh alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime premium for those extra hours. The plaintiff holds Anu Inc., Ramjit Singh, Tarsem Kaur Singh and Baljit Singh responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay any overtime compensation at a rate of time-and-one-half to plaintiff for all hours worked in excess of 40 per workweek.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of all overtime compensation at the legal rate, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by John B. Rosenquest IV of Rosenquest Law Firm PA in Coconut Grove.
