Passenger claims suitcase caused injuries on cruise ship

Cruise 07

MIAMI – A Louisiana woman claims she was injured after she tripped on a suitcase that was left on a staircase on a cruise ship.

Eileen Latapie filed a complaint on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against NCL (Bahamas) LTD, doing business as Norwegian Cruise Line, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 26, 2015, she sustained physical injuries when she tripped over a suitcase that was left at the bottom of a staircase on the Norwegian Jewel. The plaintiff holds NCL (Bahamas) LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly train its employees and failed to maintain the ship in a safe condition for passengers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Andrew L. Waks of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
