Suit filed against Brother International Corp. over use of QR codes in advertising

MIAMI – A Texas company alleges a New Jersey corporation uses its patented technology in advertising.

Symbology Innovations LLC filed a complaint on July 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Brother International Corp. alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages as the result of its patented technologies being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Brother International Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly incorporates Quick Response Codes in advertising media, which the plaintiff alleges directly infringes one or more claims its patents.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to enjoin the defendant, award plaintiff royalties, damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Joel B. Rothman and Jerold I. Schneider of Schneider Rothman Intellectual Property Law Group PLLC in Boca Raton.
