Carnival accused of negligence by passenger

Cruise 01

MIAMI – A passenger alleges he tripped and was injured by a light strip on a cruise ship.

Percy Elzey filed a complaint on July 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2015, he sustained physical injuries when he tripped over a protruding light strip on the floor in a stairwell while on a cruise on the Carnival Inspiration. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the condition of the light strip on its vessel or provide adequate warning to passengers regarding the risk of falling.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all damages against the defendant. He is represented by Michael A. Winkleman and Ivan Izquierdo of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman PA in Miami.
