Al Qaderi Inc. alleged to have violated FLSA

Law money 01

TAMPA – A Hillsborough County employer is facing a suit from the U.S. Department of Labor over allegations of wage law violations.

U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez filed a complaint on July 11 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Al Qaderi Inc., doing business as Marathon Gas Station, and Mujahed Elbooz alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendants did not pay employees overtime wages or the minimum hourly rate. The plaintiff holds Al Qaderi Inc. and Elbooz responsible because the defendants allegedly have not paid employees at a rate of time-and-one-half for hours worked over 40 per workweek since Jan. 6, 2014.

The plaintiff seeks to permanently enjoin the defendants, award back wages and liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. The plaintiff is represented by Monica R. Moukalif of the U.S. Department of Labor in Atlanta.
