MIAMI – A New York luxury goods manufacturer has filed a suit against several defendants alleging they sell counterfeit copies of its products.
Chanel Inc. filed a complaint on July 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against the 2016 Charm Jewelry, 2015 Fashion Electronic Shop, Aaron Shume Jewelry, et al. alleging trademark infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Chanel Inc. suffered damages to its business as a result of its products being copied and sold to consumers. The plaintiff holds the defendants responsible because the defendants allegedly manufactured similar imitations of plaintiff's products and goods and sold them to consumers on aliexpress.com and other websites.
The plaintiff seeks injunction against the defendants from further infringing plaintiff's trademark, order that the seller IDs operated by the defendant to immediately cease operation, pay plaintiff damages and profits derived from its infringement of plaintiff's trademark, statutory damages of $2 million for each counterfeit trademark used, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
