Laza Iron Works employee files suit over wage allegations

Law money 04

MIAMI – A Miami-Dade County man alleges a medal fabrication and steel company has not properly paid him during his employment.

Miguel Abrego Cabrera filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Laza Iron Works Inc. and Israel Laza alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime wages since the beginning of his employment with the defendant in February 2013. The plaintiff holds Laza Iron Works Inc. and Laza responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff any overtime compensation at a rate of time-and-one-half for all hours worked in excess of 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment of all unpaid compensation at the legal rate, liquidated damages, all legal fees, interest and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jonathan S. Minick of Jonathan S. Minick PA in Miami.
