MIAMI – A Rolling Meadows, Illinois company is facing a suit from a Boynton Beach company over allegations of patent infringement.

Shipping and Transit LLC filed a complaint on July 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Fairprice Tobacco Inc., doing business as Windycitycigars.com, citing patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as a result of its patented technology being used. The suit lists patents '207, '359', '299 ad '970, which regard vehicle status information when shipping items. The plaintiff holds Fairprice Tobacco Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly infringed plaintiff's patents by incorporating certain patented technologies into its advance ship notice when mailing products.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages plus interest, increased damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Jason P. Dollard of Leslie Robert Evans & Associates in Palm Beach.
