Chanel accuses NY woman of selling counterfeit goods

MIAMI – A New York individual is facing a lawsuit from luxury goods manufacturer alleging she is selling counterfeit products.

Chanel Inc. filed a complaint on June 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Sindy Chen, doing business as SBLoveCollections, SindyOrigami and @SindyOrigami, and Does 1-10 alleging trademark infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as a result of counterfeit copies of its products being sold by the defendant. The plaintiff holds Sindy Chen and Does 1-10 responsible because the defendant allegedly promoted and distributed counterfeit copies of plaintiff's products utilizing different social media websites.

The plaintiff seeks preliminary and permanent injunction against the defendant, order of cancellation of all domain names used by the defendant, award plaintiff all profits and damages resulting from the defendant's unlawful acts, statutory damages in the amount of $2 million for each counterfeit trademark used and sold, all profits and damages, order all funds from defendant's financial institution connected to the defendant's seller IDs be surrendered to plaintiff, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
