SARASOTA – Four attorneys from the law firm Fergeson, Skipper, Shaw, Keyser, Baron & Tirabassi PA were named to the 2016 list of Florida Super Lawyers

James O. Fergeson Jr., J. Ronald Skipper, Richard R. Gans and Douglas R. Bald were recognized by Super Lawyers. All four attorneys are shareholders at Fergeson Skipper and were honored because they have attained a high degree of recognition among their peers. In addition, they have met ethical standards and have attained professional achievements recognized by Super Lawyers.

Super Lawyers only names the top 5 percent of lawyers nominated each year in more than 70 practice areas to each state’s list. It employs a research team to make the decision using a multiphase process that includes a survey of lawyers throughout Florida, independent research evaluation of the candidates nominated and peer reviews by practice area.

“Each candidate is evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement,” Ron Cahill, director of research at Super Lawyers, told the Florida Record. “Selections are made on an annual, state-by-state basis. The objective is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of outstanding attorneys that can be used as a resource for attorneys and consumers searching for legal counsel. No more than 5 percent of attorneys in each state qualify to be on their state’s Super Lawyers list."

Fergeson is a board-certified specialist in tax law with expertise in business organizations, contracts law, estate planning, probate and estate administration, taxation law, trusts and wills. He has been on the Florida Super Lawyers list consecutively since 2008.

Skipper is board certified as a specialist in wills, trusts and estates. He specializes in estate and trust administration, trusts and wills. He has been recognized as a Florida Super Law every year since 2007.

All four attorneys are board certified by the Florida Bar in their areas of expertise. They each hold AV Preeminent Peer Review Ratings from Martindale-Hubbell, an attorney rating site. This is the highest rating offered to attorneys regarding their legal ability and professional ethics.
