New York man claims he was injured on Costa Mediterranean

Cruise 08

MIAMI – A Costa Mediterranean passenger alleges he was injured on the dance floor of the cruise ship.

Stephen Nappe filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Costa Crociere S.p.A. Co. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on March 11, 2015, he was injured when he violently struck his head against the underside of a spiral staircase that juts out into the dance floor/stage area, causing him to suffer bodily injury, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, loss of capacity to earn money and medical expenses.

The plaintiff holds Costa Crociere S.p.A. Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition, failed to adequately illuminate the underside of the spiral staircase, failed to close off or rope off that section of the dance floor/stage and failed to staff its ship with personnel who were able to give adequate medical care.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for more than $75,000 plus costs of suit. He is represented by David W. Singer of David W. Singer & Associates PA in Hollywood.
