Half Price Kitchen Bath & Granite accused of not paying overtime

Law money 12

MIAMI – A man is suing his former employer claiming he regularly worked more than 40 works per week and was not paid accordingly.

Lewis Jean-Baptiste filed a complaint on May 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Half Price Kitchen Bath & Granite LLC and Ankari Jamie, alleging that the employers violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment, he worked for more than 40 hours per week without proper compensation. The plaintiff holds Half Price Kitchen Bath & Granite LLC and Jamie responsible because the defendant allegedly willfully refused to compensate him at a rate of time-and-one-half of his regular rate for each hour worked in excess of 40 hours per work week, as well as pay him the basic minimum wage.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, including liquidated damages, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and all other relief the court deems just and proper. He is represented by Chad Levy of Law Offices of Levy & Levy PA in Fort Lauderdale.
