Orion Energy Systems files patent infringement suit over light fixture kits

Patents 06

MIAMI – A Wisconsin company alleges that a Delaware company is selling a retrofit kit that infringes a patent.

Orion Energy Systems Inc. filed a complaint on April 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Jaykal LED Solutions Inc., citing alleged patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges Jaykal LED Solutions Inc. allegedly directly infringed the plaintiff's '948 patent, titled Troffer Light Fixture Retrofit Systems and Methods, with its retrofit kits. The plaintiff alleges the defendant's action caused it substantial damage, including irreparable harm, for which it has no adequate remedy at law, unless and until the defendant is enjoined from infringing the ’948 patent.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment that defendant has infringed the '948 patent, preliminary and permanent injunction enjoining defendant from infringing the ’948 patent, compensation for damages, post-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs, expenses and for such other relief as the court may deem just and proper. It is represented by Laura Ganoza of Foley & Lardner LLP in Miami and Kadie M. Jelenchick of Foley & Lardner LLP in Milwaukee.
