Man alleges UPS driver's negligence caused injuries in accident

Car accident 30

TAMPA – A Hillsborough County man alleges that he was injured by a shipping company's employee in an accident in Hernando County.

Gregory David filed a complaint on April 15 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against United Parcel Service Inc. alleging that the postal company failed to train its employee to properly operate a vehicle to avoid accidents.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 14, 2015, he was operating a 2014 Hyundai and stopped the at stop sign on Moongate Road in Spring Hill when a 1997 International truck, owned by defendant and driven by its employee Derek Owen, collided with a vehicle that in turn stuck the plaintiff's vehicle. As a direct and proximate result, he alleges he suffered bodily injury, resulting in pain and suffering, disability, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of earnings and hospitalization and medical expenses. The plaintiff holds United Parcel Service Inc. responsible because the defendant's driver allegedly negligently operated or maintained the truck.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant for damages in an amount exceeding $15,000, exclusive of costs. He is represented by Maryann Furman, Megan Cummings and J. De' Aun Sardella of The Nurse Lawyer PA in New Port Richey.
