Norwegian Sky passenger alleges she was injured in fall on ship

Cruise 04

MIAMI – A Norwegian Sky passenger alleges that the vessel operator failed to maintain the cruise ship in a reasonably safe condition under the circumstances and she was injured as a result.

Alice Gieg filed a complaint on April 14 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami-Dade County Division against NCL (Bahamas) LTD, doing business as Norwegian Cruise Lines, citing negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on May 22, 2015, she was walking down the interior stairs of the vessel when she slipped and fell hard to the ground and suffered significant injuries, including left foot/ankle injuries that required surgery. The plaintiff holds Norwegian Cruise Lines responsible because the defendant's crew allegedly failed to remove the water from the stairs, failed to warn her of the water on the stairs, failed to stop her from walking down the stairs until the water on the floor was removed and failed to follow reasonably safe practices to protect its passengers.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages and any other relief the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by David H. Gold and Ian M. Kirtman of Gold & Gold PA in Boca Raton.
