Former worker files suit against Sunniland Corp. for allegedly unpaid wages

JACKSONVILLE – A Duval County salesperson for a roofing supplies and lawn and garden Jackson business alleges he was not paid overtime wages.

Robert Patten filed a complaint on April 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Sunniland Corp., alleging violation the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Feb. 7, 2011, and July 31, 2015, he worked for 50 hours each week but he did not receive overtime wages. The plaintiff holds Sunniland Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with their agreement to compensate him at the rate of $3,651.15 per month, plus monthly commission and failed to pay overtime premiums at a rate of time-and-one-half of his regular rate for each hour worked in excess of 40 hours per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for damages, plus an additional equal amount as liquidated damages. He is represented by Daniel J. Glary of Daniel J. Glary PA in Jacksonville.
