Law money 09

MIAMI – A Miami-Dade County woman alleges she was not paid during her employment at a tax office.

Ciara Dormeus filed a complaint on April 15 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Tax Voice LLC, Teshara Godfrey and Gregory Bryant alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act, breach of contract and unjust enrichment.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between November 2014 and December 2015, she worked approximately 55 hours per week without being paid. The plaintiff holds Tax Voice LLC, Teshara Godfrey and Gregory Bryant responsible because the defendants allegedly failed and refused to pay overtime wages for all hours worked over 40 hours in a given work week, intentionally refused to pay even the minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for all hours that she worked, failed and refused to perform their obligation to pay her at the rate of $500 per week and failed to investigate whether payroll system is in compliance with the FLSA.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, pre-judgment interest, attorney's fees, costs and expenses and for such other and further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Brian H. Pollock of Fairlaw Law Firm in Miami.
