ORLANDO – An Orlando consumer is suing Monitronics International Inc. over claims of abuse and violation of telephone harassment statutes.

Carolyn Adams filed a complaint on April 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Monitronics International Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between Nov. 5, 2015, and Jan. 5, she has received approximately 300 calls to her cellular telephone from the defendant and even after she expressly revoked her permission. The plaintiff holds Monitronics International Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly continued its campaign to abuse her by calling her several times in one hour, during one day, and on back-to-back days and made calls using an automatic telephone dialing system and/or pre-recorded or artificial voice.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, attorney's fees, costs and for any other and further relief that the court mat deem just and proper. She is represented by Octavio "Tav" Morgan of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Tampa.
