Asset Managing Group, others accused of not paying overtime

Law money 05

JACKSONVILLE – Two Duval County individuals allege that their former employer did not properly pay them.

Jason Reinhart and Christina Knight filed a complaint on behalf of those similarly situated on April 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Asset Managing Group Inc., Assistax Inc., Ameritax Mediation Group Inc. and Paul Moise alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Florida Minimum Wage Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked for the defendants from 2013 to 2015 and were not paid the applicable minimum wage rate for each hour they worked and were not paid time-and-a-half of their regular rates of pay for some of the overtime hours they worked. The plaintiffs holds Asset Managing Group Inc., Assistax Inc., Ameritax Mediation Group Inc. and Moise responsible because the defendants allegedly refused and continues to refuse to pay the wages claimed, failed to pay overtime compensation for some hours worked more than 40 per week, discriminated and retaliated against the plaintiffs for making a complaint regarding their illegal pay practices and terminated them.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensation for unpaid wages, liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, attorneys’ fees and costs and all other relief as the court may deem just, equitable and appropriate. They are represented by Patrick V. Douglas and Arlen M. Weintraub of Douglas & Carter in Lake City.
