AllianceOne Receivables Management Inc. accused of deceptive collection practices

Late 02

MIAMI – A Broward County consumer alleges that a Pennsylvania debt collector used deceptive practices in an attempt to collect a purported debt.

Gabriela Urias filed a complaint on April 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against AllianceOne Receivables Management Inc. alleging that the debt collector violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant contacted her in regards to a purported debt to the Florida Department of Transportation for toll charges. The plaintiff holds AllianceOne Receivables Management Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly tried to collect unlawful fees when it sent her a collection letter in March.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for statutory and actual damages, attorneys’ fees and costs and for such other relief that the court may deem appropriate and just under the circumstances. She is represented by Thomas J. Patti and Jibrael S. Hindi of Thomas-John Law in Fort Lauderdale.
