MIAMI – A Norwegian Epic passenger is suing the cruise vessel owners over injuries she alleges she sustained while on the ship.
Elsa DeJesus filed a complaint on April 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against NCL (Bahamas) LTD, doing business as Norwegian Cruise Lines Inc., citing negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 17, 2015, she was seriously injured when she slipped and fell on a wet and slippery floor on the Spice H2O deck. The plaintiff holds Norwegian Cruise Lines Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly maintain its passenger deck, failed to warn passengers of the dangers of walking on a passenger deck, failed to train its employees to look for spills and clean them promptly and failed to have non-skid or non-slip steps.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for damages, prejudgment interest and costs. She is represented by Paul M. Hoffman of Hoffman Law Firm in Fort Lauderdale.
